Gameplay
Animal Crossing: City Folk plays very similarly to the previous Animal Crossing games. The Wii Remote pointer and motion controls are used for handling tools such as axes, fishing rods and bug nets. For the first time, players live in individual houses spread apart from each other, unlike the original Animal Crossing where the four houses were grouped together, and in Animal Crossing: Wild World where the players shared a house. Also for the first time, you can pick which of the four abandoned houses your character lives in. Players can now also customize back, front and sleeves of clothes, unlike previous games where the clothes were customized as a whole.
A number of real world holidays make a return, such as Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July, Bunny Day and Halloween. Holiday characters from previous games will make a return, including some new ones such as Zipper T., Pavè and Nat.
The City
A new feature to the game is the city, which players can visit by bus from their town.
Online Connectivity
Animal Crossing: City Folk will be the first Wii game to use Wiispeak, a new microphone option for the Wii which enables voice communication over Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection. With Wii Speak, all people in a room may communicate with those in another room also containing the device, and can also have live text chat using a USB Keyboard. Players can communicate with other players by sending messages to either their town, Wii Message Board, mobile phone or personal computer.
An auction house run by Lloyd, a Gyroid, is available in the city where players can auction off items to other players via Nintendo WFC, as well as an office for the Happy Room Academy run by Lyle, where players can see how well other players' towns are progressing.
It has also been confirmed there is and will be free downloadable content, such as new furniture and items, that will be released periodically to each region. **To get the downloadable content from other regions, you can order it from me!! :)**
The game also supports Nintendo DS connectivity functionality. For example, owners of Wild World can now move their character and catalog into AC City . Additionally, the DS can be used to transfer characters between Wii consoles as a means of visiting other player's towns via DS Download Play.
