Town Hall

The Town Hall is run by Pelly and Phyllis, the birds. It's also where the Mayor spends most of his time - when he's not out dealing with town events (although you can't speak to him in the Town Hall, as he's busy "working"). Pelly serves in the day time, Phyllis at night, and they're both there when visiting on WiFi. Pete works here, although the only time you see him is when he is out making deliveries. You also see him when you log in, and he will be at your door to deliver a message from Nintendo if there is one.

Left Counter - Civics Center

At the left counter you can:
  • Inquire about the town's environment (see Perfect Town)
  • Change the Town Tune
  • Contribute to the Town Fund
  • Complain about a problem

Visiting Town Hall

Complaining about a problem allows you to complain that you can't get into your house, or complain about a villager.
If you are locked out of your house, you have too many items on you floor.
Choosing "I'm locked out!, Pelly/Phyllis will ask you to select any items and place them in the recycling bin.
However, If there too much to go into the recylcling bin, you will LOSE some of your items. You can opt out of
this before they remove anything.

If you are choosing to complain about Residents, then you will be asked who you are having trouble with, then, depending
on who is working: Pelly/Phyllis, you will be presented with a few options:
Pelly: What seems to be the problem with (Villager)?
  • Rude! / Change in catchphrase
  • Slobby! / Change in clothing
  • Weird letters! / Stop showing letters to people during Wi-Fi
Phyllis: So, what's the trouble with this...(Villager)?
  • Bad catchphrase! / Change in catchphrase
  • Horrible clothes! / Change in clothing
  • Terrible letters! / Stop showing letters to people on Wi-Fi

Answering yes to the questions will result in the statements located next to the options above. Often used to remove offensive content created by other players.

Right Counter - Post Office

At the right counter you can send letters to villagers in your own town, players in your own town, and friends you've visited via WiFi. You can also send messages to the Wii Message board and email addresses - this doesn't require writing paper like when you write to villagers, and you can attach the picture you've taken (with the '1' button) to the message (this is how you can email yourself screenshots for the Wiki!). You can also store mail here (works similar to how dressers/wardrobes do for items).

ABD Machine

On the left in the Town Hall you'll find a ABD* (Automatic Bell Dispenser) machine (there's another one in the city). Here you can deposit/withdraw money, pay off your mortgage, and request a replacement shopping card*.

Recycle Bin

On the right in the Town Hall you'll find the Recycle Bin. This is where your residents will place items (Furniture, Clothing, Gyroids, etc...) that they no longer want to keep. You can take anything from there that you like. The Recyle Bin is emptied at 6am on Mondays and Thursdays. The recycling bin is a good place to get rid of rubbish you might fish up. If you run out of space in the recycle bin, Nook will always dispose of rubbish for you if you ask him to.

Sometimes, if you send a piece of furniture to a neighbor, they will replace a piece of furniture in their house with what you sent them. When this happens, it occasionally shows up in the Recycling Bin. This is a semi-handy way to get your hands on a piece of furniture a neighbor has in his/her house that you otherwise might not be able to easily obtain.

Notice Board

Outside the Town Hall you'll find the town Notice Board. This will display information about upcoming events in town, results from competitions, villager's birthdays, Tom Nook's information on new products, you can also write on it yourself (One of your duties is to write an advertisement for Nook's Shop when you begin the game). You can look back through recent notices - each circle below the message represents a notice you can read - unread ones are marked with a different color in the circle. Blue means your character has read the notice and Yellow means you have not read the notice. When there are unread notices on the board a canary sits on the board and tweets to let you know there's something new to read. Other people that visit the town via Wi-Fi can also post on the message board. It's a good way to keep track of who's in your town.
